What is Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said: "Life's most urgent and persistent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" On January 21st, 2013 millions of Americans will answer this question by coming together in service to their communities.  The legacy of Dr. King lives on through the national day of community service named in his honor and grounded in his teachings of nonviolence and social justice. The aim is to make the holiday a day ON where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to improve lives, bridge social barriers, and move our nation closer to the "Beloved Community" that Dr. King envisioned.
